From working to master jump rope techniques to freestyling fun shuffling routines, I try to bring my unique style and experience to help others enjoy and improve their own skills and lives.
I’ll host the upcoming podcast Skip Squad Chronicles, where jumpers, skippers, and shufflers share their inspiring fitness stories and experience in each episode.
I started jumping rope as a warm-up for kickboxing and martial arts about twenty years ago, but it was very vanilla jumping – no tricks.
In December of 2023, my interest in jumping and shuffling took off when I found the ever-awesome jump queen, @lauren.jumps and smooth-steppin’ shuffler @shufflea_ who both demonstrate in every video how insanely fun moving to music can be.
Shuffling came naturally as a way to combine my love of rhythm with fitness, and I haven’t looked back since!

I’m no jump rope Jedi or shuffling Samurai – I’m just some dude whose life has been completely changed by jumping, shuffling, dancing, and losing my shame.
My approach is all about showing up, working hard, having fun, laughing as much as possible, being creative, and sweating buckets!
Most importantly, trying to help and encourage other jumpers and shufflers in the community, because they do the same for me daily.
I try to blend my passion and love of music and my personal experience with tips and tricks to make learning enjoyable and accessible. If nothing else, I’ll try to make you laugh. 🤣
Like many, I faced challenges early on, including a serious injury that kept me from jumping for over six weeks. Also, I had no idea how to size a rope properly, so I practiced with gear that was the wrong size, causing lots of trip-ups and exclamations of colorful metaphor.
I used the downtime to learn and recover, and I came back stronger, always trying listening to my body and keeping focused on consistency and gradual improvement.
Without exception, all of my challenges have been created by the Diz man himself.
They are most often caused by not heeding the warnings when my body says, “Yo, it’s time to quit for the day,” or “Your knee is the size of a grapefruit, dummy.”
I love skipping rope outside in all sorts of weather while freestyling moves to music — DJ Dizzy in the hizzy.
I share my experience and tips because I’m passionate about helping others discover the joy and benefits of jump rope and shuffling.
Skipping rope and shuffling have been a lifeline in tough times.
Through my commitment to learning to jump and shuffle, I’ve lost weight, have more energy, self-control, self-esteem, and truckloads of flipping fun.
It’s elevated my rythym game and taught me time and again that consistent practice and positive vibes result in big strides, especially when part of an encouraging, inclusive community.
Jumping rope and dancing and are my true happy place, my meditation, my safety net, and a constant source of joy.
